Cookie categories in more detail
| Category | Typical purpose | Choice |
| Strictly necessary | Authentication, security, session continuity, fraud prevention, load balancing, and storing privacy preferences. | Required for core functions; blocking them may prevent login or dashboard use. |
| Functional | Remembering interface or accessibility preferences. | May be optional depending on implementation. |
| Analytics | Understanding aggregated page use, errors, performance, and navigation. | Used only where enabled and permitted, subject to available consent controls. |
| Advertising | Ad delivery, frequency control, fraud prevention, measurement, and—when permitted—personalization. | Subject to applicable law and consent settings. |
Google advertising cookies
If Google ads are enabled, Google may set or read cookies and use similar technologies to serve, limit, personalize, and measure advertising. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to PortalMine or other websites. Users can manage personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings.
Google and other approved providers may also receive consent choices and technical information needed to respect privacy settings, prevent fraud, and measure ad delivery.
Consent management
Where required by law—such as for certain users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland—PortalMine must use an appropriate consent-management process before activating relevant advertising or analytics storage. The site’s basic cookie panel is not a substitute for a Google-certified consent-management platform when Google requires one for advertising.
After AdSense setup, PortalMine should enable a Google-certified CMP through AdSense Privacy & messaging or another certified provider and make a “Privacy & cookie settings” control available for users who want to revisit their choices.
Browser and device controls
Most browsers allow users to delete cookies, block third-party cookies, limit tracking, or clear site data. Blocking necessary storage can sign users out or prevent account functions. Browser controls do not automatically communicate every advertising preference, so users may also need to use provider opt-out tools.
Changes and contact
Cookie names, providers, and retention periods can change as the service evolves. This policy will be updated when material categories or purposes change. Questions can be sent to support@portalmine.com.
