Ultra-fast setup
Create an account, choose a version, and get your server address quickly. No command line required.
PortalMine focuses on a small set of features that make free hosting practical: fast setup, a simple panel, and enough stability to keep friend servers enjoyable.

Do the essentials: start/stop/restart, view basic details, and access quick help.
We prefer settings that keep servers playable for small groups, even on free resources.
We apply baseline protections and infrastructure best practices to reduce random outages and common attack noise.
PortalMine targets widely used Java server versions plus Bedrock servers powered by Nukkit for lightweight cross-platform play.

Trying to do everything at once usually hurts reliability. For a free tier, it’s smarter to focus on a stable core:
If you add advanced features later, consider making them opt-in or part of a paid plan—so the free experience stays predictable.
Light configurations can work depending on the server type. If you need heavier plugin stacks or modpacks, consider a paid-grade host.
We aim for an “always online” experience, but free resources can have fair-use constraints. We prefer being transparent: check Status if you notice interruptions.
On the public Status page. We try to share updates in a clear way.
A feature list is useful only when it tells users what they can actually accomplish. PortalMine’s public documentation groups features around the server-owner workflow: create, connect, manage, protect, troubleshoot, and maintain.
| Task | What PortalMine provides | What the owner remains responsible for |
|---|---|---|
| Create | A guided choice between supported Java and Bedrock/Nukkit options, version selection, and automated installation. | Choosing a compatible edition and avoiding unsupported or overly heavy configurations. |
| Connect | A visible connection address and, where required, a Bedrock port. | Entering the address correctly and using a compatible client version. |
| Manage | Start, stop, restart, state information, timer visibility, files, and logs. | Reading errors before repeatedly restarting and making backups before risky changes. |
| Protect | Account controls, basic platform safeguards, and documentation about whitelists and permissions. | Using strong credentials, limiting operator access, moderating players, and protecting downloaded backups. |
| Maintain | Fair-use session controls, idle shutdown, and public support/status resources. | Keeping software current, testing plugins, cleaning unused files, and planning around free-tier limits. |
Java servers are suitable for PC players using Minecraft: Java Edition. Depending on the software available in the dashboard, server owners may run a mostly vanilla experience or use plugin-oriented software. Plugins must match the server software and should be added gradually so that problems can be traced.
Client-side and server-side mods are a different category. Heavy modpacks require more memory, CPU time, storage, and troubleshooting than a typical free server can reliably provide.
Bedrock support is intended for compatible Bedrock clients and uses Nukkit-based server software. Bedrock connections commonly require both a hostname and port. Nukkit plugins are not interchangeable with Java plugins, and behavior may differ from an official Bedrock Dedicated Server.
PortalMine uses timed sessions and coin-based actions to distribute free capacity. The dashboard shows remaining time and presents extension controls when they are available. Coins are a platform resource, not money, and have no cash value. Availability, prices, reward methods, and limits may change to prevent abuse or reflect infrastructure costs.
Core documentation, account support, and published server controls remain accessible independently of any optional promotional feature.
No free hosting platform can guarantee uninterrupted uptime, permanent storage without backups, compatibility with every plugin, or stable performance under any workload. PortalMine publishes clear limitations so users can decide when a paid or self-hosted solution is more appropriate.
| Stage | PortalMine capability | Owner responsibility |
|---|---|---|
| Planning | Edition and software choices, version options, resource information, guides | Confirm player editions and extension requirements |
| Creation | Guided server creation and installation state | Wait for installation and avoid duplicate power actions |
| First launch | Power controls, console visibility, server address | Verify a complete ready state before sharing access |
| Daily operation | Status, restart controls, settings, extensions and basic management | Moderate players, maintain backups and document changes |
| Troubleshooting | Console evidence, help pages, error library and support channel | Provide exact errors, versions, timestamps and recent changes |
| Maintenance | Controlled stop/start workflow and documentation | Test updates, preserve a rollback path and notify players |
Power actions are most useful when the owner understands server state. A restart should not replace diagnosis, and a forced stop should not become the normal shutdown method. PortalMine documentation explains when to start, stop, restart, wait, or collect logs. The objective is not merely to expose buttons; it is to help owners use those controls safely.
Java plugins, Fabric mods, Forge mods, Nukkit plugins, Bedrock add-ons, and resource packs belong to different ecosystems. PortalMine surfaces supported choices, while the owner must keep versions aligned. Before installing an extension, verify the source, target software, game version, dependencies, configuration requirements, and rollback procedure. See Server Software Comparison for the major compatibility boundaries.
A useful panel makes current state understandable. Owners should be able to distinguish an offline server from an installing server, identify whether startup reached a ready message, and capture an error without exposing credentials. PortalMine combines these signals with a public service-status guide and a structured connection troubleshooting workflow.
